a cute little recap of the week of september seventh to the fourteen. #cute #and #fun
sunday the seventh: a few cool things happened on this day. i woke up super early to shoot a styling project for a wonderful little lady named cianda that approached me a few weeks back. the photos turned out great which i'll have a separate post on some time this week. here's one of the shots that i really like of our lovely model danielle of lizbell agency.
something that also happened was that i finally launched this website. man what a journey. i'm honestly blown away by the kind words that everyone has said and all the feedback and the insane amount of views in the first couple of days. thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
okay. sappy shit aside, i ended my sunday night with a couple of my cousins and my sisters. we drove to iona beach while the sun was setting and i had half my body out the sunroof for a nice part of it.
monday the eighth: on monday after class i went to get some work done at nelson the seagull which is this adorable cafe food place thing that makes their own almond milk! isn't that exciting? i've been here before months ago when i showed up a couple hours early for a photoshoot in gastown but i digress. i got the avo on toast and an iced almond milk latte.
after that i was on the bus going down main and i finally saw another whisper.
if you haven't heard about whispers, it's this beautiful typographic mural work by local poets. i would definitely recommend checking them out. i see the one depicted below often since i'm usually in gastown. but yeah. super cool project.
tuesday the ninth: i met up with cianda after class to show her the photos i took for her on sunday and she loved them which is awesome. it was actually her birthday and she baked cupcakes and brought me one! super cool. she also, as a little thank you, got me this japanese cotton notebook i had mentioned. i have been dreaming about it for a while but hadn't built up the courage to pick it up for myself. take a look. it's beautiful.
wednesday the tenth: okay. i had a few free hours so i was exploring my external hard drive and came across two seasons of How To Make It In America. I used to be obsessed with this show before it got cancelled in 2011. it was truly ahead of it's time. if you haven't watched it, you should. two seasons. eight episodes each. 20 minutes per episode.
thursday the eleventh: i got a buttload of film off a lady a few weeks back. it was some super expired high iso slide film so you can only image what it might look like. well. just to help the picture in your mind, i shot a roll of it and finally picked it up on the eleventh. here are a few of my favorite shots. (the header is also a shot from this roll!)
i got them developed at the lab on main which i've never done before but they were recommended by the photo lab i usually go to to develop my shiz so i checked it out. i'll be taking the rest of the film i acquired there as well.
another cool thing that happened on thursday was that i found out that i was featured in frogman's light school under their community spotlight. nice. you can check that out here.
friday the twelfth: nothing happened. i think i cleaned my room.
saturday the thirteenth: i picked up this cute lil camera that packs a gnarly punch. i'm currently trying to run a roll through it that'll hopefully be done and developed by wednesday but im pretty stoked. it's a pentax espio mini in silver. i met up with the dude off craigslist late afternoon and he was actually pretty cool. going to pick up some film off him in the future. he gave me a roll with the camera which was dope. anyway. i snerpcherped about it (i'm @myartsucks if you want to add me or whatever the term is.)
sunday the fourteenth: okay so sunday was rad as heck. i met up with my friend marlon to talk about a collaboration. now i cant tell you too much about it but trust me it's going to be dope. collaboration is a scary thing because just like with everything else in life, so many things can go horribly wrong. the great thing about marlon is that we're totally on the same page emotionally and creatively with this project so i have no hesitation this time round.
you should definitely check out his instagram. i'm stoked. i snapped this pic of him while we were waiting for the train.
later on that night i got to meet up with my good friend, alex, to help him out with a project for school. he took some pix of me. i took some pix of him.
